Cultural heritage reflects the achievements and wisdom of our past. It is the legacy we pass on to future generations. Preserving cultural heritage is an attempt to maintain and uphold human self-determination, diversity and cultural identity. It helps us form a sense of place and build futures.
Preserving slowly disappearing intangible traditions such as oral histories and less-spoken languages, or the tangible relics, deteriorating artifacts, even archaeological sites and historic structures can be great challenges for so many indigent communities around our globe simply because they lack the professional and financial resources. Without the means for preservation, the destruction and deterioration of these irreplaceable assets become irreversible through time.
What we do
HS&P features existing preservation issues at work in economically-distressed areas to promote awareness and help find the needed resources for each effort. We collaborate with skilled resources and help collect donated tools and supplies that empower communities to preserve heritage, build capacity and to take viable steps towards social change and economic development. Our website gives you the opportunity to learn more about global preservation efforts, issues and needs in areas that face some great challenges.
